Map scans (geogrid)

One phrase measured from 25, 49 or 81 points across your service area on a real map; 50, 98 or 162 credits; one free scan per account; runs in the background.

A rank check gives one number for one city. A map scan gives a grid: the same phrase searched from dozens of points across the service area, so "weak to the south-east" is something you can see and act on.

Where

  • Web: SEO, the domain, Local SEO, Map scans.
  • iOS: Local SEO, Map. Pins sit at the coordinates they were measured at, over streets and place names, on Apple Maps. A phrase-by-place view compares every town you have scanned.
  • API/MCP: GET /api/local-seo/geogrid/quote, POST /api/local-seo/geogrid/scan (keyword, grid_size, request_key), GET /api/local-seo/geogrid/scans, POST /api/local-seo/geogrid/request; tools run_geogrid_scan, get_geogrid_scans.

Grid sizes and prices

Grid Points Credits
5x5 25 50
7x7 49 98
9x9 81 162

The grid is centred on the saved business address, or on any covered city you pick, and spaced by the profile's service radius. Every account gets one complimentary map scan, ever; after that each one is quoted and charged.

Running in the background

A map scan is dozens of separate searches and takes longer than one request can wait. It runs as a job on the server, keeps running if you close the app, and shows as running until the result lands. A scan that is still running says so instead of drawing an empty map that would read as "you rank nowhere"; a scan that could not finish says that too, and why, rather than vanishing from the list.

Reading the map

Each pin shows the position measured at that point. The legend says which shade is which band. The summary reports how much of the grid found you (the share of points where you appear in the pack) and where the drop-off is.

Batch quotes

POST /api/local-seo/geogrid/quote/batch prices several phrases and grids at once so a monthly set of scans can be approved as one number.

Common questions

The map is empty after an hour. Open the scan's row: the status says running, failed with a reason, or complete. A failure is not charged.

Why 162 credits for 9x9? 81 points is 81 searches at the provider's price; the 5x5 at 50 credits is the usual choice and the free one.
