The Scan tab, the guest check and the App Clip
Quick or full scans of any domain from the Scan tab, saved to your account; the free check from the welcome screen without an account; and the App Clip that runs that check.

The Scan tab
Since 2026-09-26 the tab that was called Check is Scan, and every scan you run from it is saved to your account.
Type a domain (pasted links are fine; IP addresses and single words are refused), choose a mode and tap Run. A quick scan works on any domain. A full scan probes the site, so it needs the domain verified; if it isn't, the Scan tab says so and offers Verify you own it, adding the domain to your account first when it isn't there. A full scan of one of your own monitored domains is that domain's Scan now, so the Monitoring tab refreshes with it.
While a scan runs, the progress bar never reaches 100% before the answer arrives. Leaving the screen does not cancel it, and a dropped connection does not lose it: the server finishes and saves the result, and the app picks it up.
The report opens in place: a score ring, a grade and a verdict (Healthy, Review or Action; "didn't finish" for a scan that failed, never a clean result), Fix first, every check grouped by category, the email records with a suggested record, registration and certificate dates, the website scores (full scans only; a dash when not measured, and no speed score), and infrastructure. From the report: open the domain in Monitoring or start monitoring it, or Ask NHM. There is no share sheet.
History on the Scan tab lists every saved scan with its mode, score and verdict; the latest three also show on Monitoring. Removing one hides it everywhere (it still counts toward the hour). Over the API: POST/GET /api/on-demand-scans, GET/DELETE /api/on-demand-scans/:id.
Signed out: the guest check
The welcome screen's Check a domain without an account runs a quick check that saves nothing. Six rows run: DNS & registration, SSL certificate, Email authentication, Security headers & exposure, Content & SEO, Accessibility. The two on-device checks run for anyone. The four server-side checks say "Needs an account", because the server answers 401 to a scan with no session, and the banner names how many rows are behind that door. The result offers "Create a free account".
The App Clip
An App Clip is a small piece of the app that runs from a link without installing it. DomainGuard's clip runs the guest check.
- Invocation:
https://nhmohio.com/clip?domain=example.comopens the clip with the domain prefilled. - Screens: enter a domain; scanning ("Checking <category>…" as each check runs); the free result with a row per category and a "Keep watching it" card with a Get DomainGuard free button; and "You've used your free check".
- The meter: one completed scan per device, spent only by a scan that produced at least one report. A scan that could not reach the domain does not spend it.
- After that: "Get DomainGuard free" opens the App Store overlay; the account is made in the full app.
The clip shares the guest check's engine, the palette and the type scale with the app; there is no second scanner. iOS may evict an unused clip, which resets its meter.
Common questions
Why does the clip call it a "Free check" and not a scan? Because the server-side half (DNS, certificate, email, headers) needs an account, and the clip measures the on-device half. The name is honest about that.
Can I run the App Clip on a domain the public tools refuse? No. The same protected-target list applies.
