The Check tab and the App Clip
A free check of any domain from its own tab, the six checks and the one-sentence verdict, what a guest sees, and the App Clip that runs the same check.

The Check tab
Type a domain and tap Check. Suggestions list the domains you already watch and the last ten you checked on this phone, with the part you typed highlighted. The field accepts and refuses the same inputs as the add form: pasted links are fine, IP addresses and single words are not.
Six checks run: DNS & registration, SSL certificate, Email authentication, Security headers & exposure, Content & SEO, Accessibility. The ring counts them (n of 6), each row picks up a Pass / n to review / n failing tag as its result lands, and Cancel keeps what already settled.
The summary card is one sentence built from the checks that actually ran, with an "n need action" / "n to review" / "All clear" tag. Tap a check for its findings, why each matters, and, for a single DNS record, the exact record to add.
From the result: Add to watched domains, or Ask NHM about this domain. There is no share sheet.
Signed out
The same check runs from the welcome screen ("Check a domain without an account"). The two on-device checks run for anyone. The four server-side checks say "Needs an account", because the server answers 401 to a scan with no session, and the banner names how many rows are behind that door. The result offers "Create a free account".
The App Clip
An App Clip is a small piece of the app that runs from a link without installing it. DomainGuard's clip runs this same check.
- Invocation:
https://nhmohio.com/clip?domain=example.comopens the clip with the domain prefilled. - Screens: enter a domain; scanning ("Checking 6 categories…"); the free result with a row per category and a "Keep this domain protected" card; and "You've used your free scan".
- The meter: one completed scan per device, spent only by a scan that produced at least one report. A scan that could not reach the domain does not spend it.
- After that: "Get DomainGuard free" and "Create an account" both open the App Store overlay; the account is made in the full app.
The clip shares the engine, the palette and the type scale with the app; there is no second scanner. iOS may evict an unused clip, which resets its meter.
Common questions
Why does the clip call it a "Free check" and not a scan? Because the server-side half (DNS, certificate, email, headers) needs an account, and the clip measures the on-device half. The name is honest about that.
Can I run the App Clip on a domain the public tools refuse? No. The same protected-target list applies.
